As well as the original studio idea, we have thought about locations. Locations like old factories or mechanics places would show the machines and repetition of work and products produced which is the basis for our idea.
Stephanie found some of these old, ruin down places which would contrast the structured and set styling with the old ruined background. I think if there wasnt loads going on, a workplace could work as a background, although the original ideas for the robotics were taken in a studio which carries on the clean, structured same idea we are going for. Although a location would be something different, i feel the ruined run-down places has been seen so many times and it becomes more a grungy/gothic sort of scene and thats not what we are looking for.
Some of the places found when they showed me i felt was a bit scary, maybe taking the idea away from what we had discussed and also the things that these places used to be is not about fashion anymore?
Whittingham mental asylum 1873-1995
The arch way is really good for reflection or repetition, but the place is contrasting with our theme quite alot. The location would be perfect if you needed a run-down building that had the original features left.
Lawson Street Police Station
Although you don't know the place is a ex police station without being told, the idea of using a police fits well with our theme of being restricted and treated the same as every other person. prison?
The last image i really like. I like the black and white check. It gives the illusion the places goes on forever..it feels never-ending. I liekd the white walls with the tiles on the floor. I think this room would be the best for our shoot, but i feel 8 images may become samey using this one plain room.
Penwortham Mills 1915-2005
This place is good because it has all the old machines left in it. It brings our narrative forward and makes it more obvious. Again i feel it could work, but has been seen many times before and could get boring over 8 pages.
The other places we thought would be a working factory in use today or a car mechanics place, somewhere with workers in the background and our model in the foreground. Kind of like placing something perfect in an unperfect situation or somewhere that she doesn't fit in.
